[camera focuses on a pile of comics]

Hilarie Burton: [Hilarie laughs] Hi everybody! You're seeing our stash right now. [camera zooms out to see Hilarie and Nick sitting on the floor with comics] It's Hilarie and Nick. We went on a field trip the other day.

Nicholas Gray: To Fanboy Comics

HB: It was quite an excursion. We went to… I mean, do you call them comic book stores? I mean that seems so simple and so elementary.

NG: I'm sure…

HB: This was serious.

NG: No, this is a serious business and I'm sure there's a term that we don't even know.

HB: Yeah, graphic novel bookstore. And we geeked out in the coolest way possible.

NG: Mhmm.

HB: We really want to be a part of this world because we found all these awesome books, and really what we were doing was our homework. Do we wanna… why don't you tip them off just a little bit?

NG: Well guys and gals, this is what we're doing. We are going to make a graphic novel.

HB: We totally are! We’ve had this project that we've been keeping very hush hush for a while. It was a concept that I came up with years ago. It was a subject matter that I was really interested in. I went to Kelly. Kelly mapped out the whole story and did the treatment and started working on the script. And then we handed it off to Nick and he, you know, is such a good writer… just made the perfect pilot episode for a T.V. show where, you know, it's very hard to sell television with selling movies and stuff like that, and the project itself really lends itself to the graphic novel format. So we're going for it. We're, you know, we're funding it. We're gonna get a first print out, hopefully pretty soon. Yeah... we're getting into the graphic novel business! Then we get to go to all the cool things like Comic-Con and... what's the other thing?... Dragon-Con…

NG: Dragon-Con... I'm not even quite sure what Dragon-Con is.

HB: But I love wizards!

NG: Yeah.

HB: So why wouldn't I love dragons? [Hilarie laughs]

NG: Yeah, we're gonna find out. We're learning all about this right now. We went to the store and were like, I mean, we were pretty dumb. 

HB: We just walked in and we're like ‘Oh, what’s cool?'.. and so, you know, there's like.. there's books like ‘Fables: Legends in Exile’ which is about, you know, people from mystical fairytales, lore and such that have been exiled from their planet, or I don't know. We're still reading all of these.

NG: We're trying to figure out…

HB: What style we like…

NG: What styles we like, what kind of art we like, you know, what kind of format we like, what kind of writing we like. And they're all so different.

HB: It's a lot of work.

NG: But we get to just have a little fun for a little while.

HB: [Hilarie laughs] Yeah.

NG: Just do a little reading…

HB: That's really hard summer reading! [laughs] So if you guys have any suggestions obviously... I've read ‘Mouse’, have you read ‘Mouse’?

NG: Mhmm.

HB: That's one of the big ones. ‘Watchmen’ is a really big one. You know, we've seen a lot of the big ones. So if you guys have any suggestions for some cool, artsy, obscure comics or graphic novels… God, we have to use the right words!

NG: Mhmm.

HB: …that we don't necessarily know about, please send us your suggestions. I can't wait for you guys to see this, it's gonna be really cool. So, until we can leak more information… yeah, we'll see you next time!
