pedestrian OST of the week
well. as you've all met our musing friend bibis, it promises to be a music-filled week. so. i will continue on that vein with my pedestrian soundtrack of the week. just one of the rad-ilicious things about being in preproduction on a movie is that you hear music that continues to inspire you towards its manifestation...
my pedestrian soundtrack changes from week to week, and sometimes from day to day, based on what i'm listening to. but if i were the zach braff of our cinematic wonder, this is what i'd put together this week. now, i'm not going to tell you where these songs fit into the fold, but i invite you to hypothesize, as you always graciously do...

yours.

LOOKING FOR SOMETHING?

Comments
I love anything by Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac as well. They are definitely the songs that would make me strut.
During my last year of School I had to do a transformation on Kazuo Ishiguro's "Remainder of the Day" and I found it schocking how much influence one song could have on my writing, it's simple melodies would enhance my writing and aid me in adding more emotion to it.
I have to say also, that I trust the music choices of anyone who can write as well as you Nick and is as creative.
Can't wait for this!

I know the response to this is a bit late, I have clearly been slacking on my SoGoPro visits. However, the Zack Braff comment really made me think that your soundtrack SHOULD be amazing, and along with that, bring new artists to the forefront. Like art helping art. A movie grabs a songs hand and pulls it along. (Kinda like the Eat n Park christmas tree commercial). If I may suggest a new artist, I would EAGERLY tell you about a guy who is doing amazing acoustic/indie music. His name is Chris Stowe and is going under the name "Anniversary Club". He currently has one ep completed and another one to be finished in july of this year. He just started a tour of the east coast and will be in your backyard in June. He is playing The Juggling Gypsy on June 2nd. Stop by or check out his myspace page. I believe in him as an artist a ton and I'm saying that not just as a fan, but being his best friend. I believe so much that I just booked a flight and I'm flying over 1000miles to see a weeks worth of shows.
"Smile" - Lily Allen (i love the music video)
"How You Love Me Now" - Hey Monday
"The sunshine stole my baby" - The blonding dandelions
"Lovers Lie" - Vedera

i like struttin to "eye of the tiger" and "don't stop believin" Awesome post! (:
haha yes cait!! i couldn't have put it better myself than "feeling extra fresh" to that song :P
oh, and Tainted Love by the Cure.
I love the rain the most, snails, never tear us apart, and new soul are all fantastic songs! I'll have to check out the rest though. I've never heard them before!
edge of seventeen is definitely a strutting song.
My song would be a tie between "Walk This Way" by Aerosmith, "Supermassive Black Hole" by Muse, and "Sunshine of Your Love" by Cream
close to me - the cure
i get some pretty weird stares busting out to that one..
oorrr if i'm feeling extra fresh, faith - george michael ;)
Oh that was just delightful!! ;)haha Edge of seventeen... I honestly can just picture it now lol and since seeing school of rock i can't help but think of jack black getting joan cusack's character drunk whenever i hear it right? :P
my strut song is without a doubt Back In Black by ac/dc i mean who doesn't agree that song is just cool... and "strutt-able" lol it like gets into your body..

Nick, let me say i discovered the blog just over the weekend and am absolutely thrilled by it all :) words cannot describe...
i can't wait to see what comes of it all!! :D
can i just comment on the fact that forever young by youth group has been my favorite song since seventh grade, and that was ages ago :)
my soundtrack? this week? alright, but this probably isn't a safe thing to ask me, considering i am a music freak. but freak is a good thing, isn't it always.

My strut song is Fools of damnation by Epica. Makes me wanna conquer the world ;)
My "strut" song changes weekly, sometimes daily. My list could go on forever. A few examples would be Eye of the Tiger, You Don't Know Me-Ben Folds, Electric Feel- MGMT, Happy Girl -Martina McBride, anything ABBA, and I Irish danced from ages 5-13 so I will admit that there are a few songs I used to dance to that I hear from time to time that I would consider "strut" songs. haha.
Great post! Great songs! I love, love, love "I love the rain the most!"
Talking about music again... you guys keep finding ways to make me love this blog even more!
Haven't heard of that many on your list but will definately be checking them out!
Can't really think of any strutting songs at the moment (do have loads though)but do agree with most of Jacylyne's and kings of leon, use somebody. and one that really stuck in my head at the moment is Michael Jacksons man in the mirror, which is kinda strange cos i dont really like that song!
i havent heard those songs but i will look them up soon, now the song that keeps me strutting is "I know i know i know" by tegan and sarah and "poker face" by lady gaga.
Val
This is great! I love a good strut with great tunes! My strut list is quite lengthy, and Neera does not need to feel embarrased Spice Girls are most definitely on my list, pretty much any of their songs can still get me going lol.

Heart-Barracuda
Kellie Pickler-Red High Heels

Mr. Grey, what a great post... as a music lover, I'll listen all your choices (some of the songs are new for me, wich is something that I love)...
My songs to srut... umm... a LOT, jejeje... Trying to choose, I'll say:
"Leave a light on" from Belinda Carlisle and "Don't you forget about me" from "Simple minds" (totally 80's, btw, Sweet Dreams is a really good choice Megan)
But this week (and probably this month) I'm obsessed with U2, three songs keep my mind ocupied: No line on the horizon, Magnificent and Unknown caller.
Besos
I definately have a few of those types of songs..
But it's hard to pin point just one.. Whatever my mood is in.. but of course I'm always loving "It's only life." By Kate V. Just because I it just helps me remember not to stress out so much and to get pushed down cause it only life and it happens so it makes me happy.
When I'm on Party Shuffle I could hear anything from...
Karma Alicia Keys
Wind Beneath My Wings Bette Midler
Clumsy Fergie
In Da Club 50 Cent
The Mixed Tape Jack's Mannequin
My Town Montgomery Gentry
Hallelujah Kate Voegele
Keep Ya Head Up 2Pac
Violet Hill Coldplay
Love Is Here To Stay Harry Connick Jr.
and a mix of church music, country, rap, rock, alternative, Jazz, R&B, and much more. I love the party mix when I'm working because it keeps me awake and wondering what will happen next.
I travel a ton for work and my ipod is always on. Sometimes I forget where I am as I walk through the airport bopping away.
I discovered this blog about a week ago and fell in love...
read your post about shouting from rooftops, and a song came to mind...
shout out loud by amos lee. while not really southern gothic sound, the lyrics parallel the idea of pedestrian in my opinion.
songs that keep me movin...
pony- erin mccarley
bottoms up- keke palmer
flying horses- dispatch (went to the actual carousel in martha's vineyard!)
scenes from an italian restaurant-good ole billy joel :_
such a fun post and i can't wait to listen to download these songs
my strut song.... anything by Britney Spears :)
My total strut song would have to either be "Walking On Sunshine" or "Safety Dance" ... although I can pretty much strut to anything ;)
Lovin' you guys ... thanks for the opportunity to purchase the tees! I hope you raised enough money to help move production along. We can't wait to see the final draft, so to speak.
Smiles,
Angie
mepod, haha, very clever.
faves to "strut" to:
Mr. Hurricane- Beast
Love Today- MIKA (pretty much anything by MIKA will work)
Here It Goes Again- Ok Go
and sometimes . . .
Lola Stars and Stripes- The Stills
sillyadventuresofmaryjaneandmissmoon.blogspot.com
stevie nicks eh? good choice. now i guess you need strutting lessons. lmfao. not that hard like walking with more bounce is all it takes.
current song obsessions 'Crazy Possessive'-Kaci, 'Smoking In The Boys Room'-Motley Crue, 'Best Days Of Your Life'-Kelly Pickler, 'Come Back To Me'- Utada Hikaru, 'Bad Girlfriend'-Theory Of A Deadman
and thats just this week. always chaging. got 3000+ songs on my Ipod...constantly finding something.
if your pedestrian soundtrack keeps changing how you going to keep up with it lol? oh well (and since i dont think i have said it) you guys rock!
xoxo
Dani
Thanks for the music suggestions! I am always searching for new music. I would definitely suggest you get some Kings of Leon on your "mepod" if you don't have any already, because they awesome!! One, of many great songs is "Use Somebody"
I have to admit my pedestrian music tends to be Taylor swift, which is surprising for a girl who loathes country music
Thanks again!
I walk a lot, and I find you can strut to almost anything. An ipod automatically makes your life seem a little bit more like a movie :P
On my walk home today i listened to "Could Be Anything" (The Eames Era), "The Ballad of Gus and Sam" (Ferraby Lionheart), "Love Machine" (Girls Aloud) and "Song For No-One" (Ian Broudie). All made for a pleasant pedestrian experience :D.
However, the number one strut song ever has to be "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey. Don't tell me you don't love it. It's a masterpiece :P. "The Bucket" and "Fans" by Kings of Leon would also have to be up there :)
Love all your choices, will definitely try to check out the few I haven't heard. And will perhaps return later to hypothesize :).
I met Hilarie years ago and told her to listen to the Format. She said she would, but I'm not sure if she ever listened. Hopefully you've convinced her to since then.
Sweet Dreams by the Eurythmics. I feel like that song is my anthem. I can't explain why. It has nothing to do with Striptease. ;)
What an excellent mixture of songs - some I have never heard so will be looking them up!
My favourite strut song of all time has to be Maxine Nightingale - Right Back Where We Started From..
Or of course, an upbeat Abba classic!
Get posting guys.. these are going to make a very interesting read!
So Stevie Nicks?! Classic stuff! And you're right, you HAVE to strut. A good song to strut your stuff? Hmm.. I'm think Nancy Sinatra's These Boots Are Made for Walking. Very sassy.
Fantastic playlist! There are some songs I have yet to hear and I'm looking forward to that discovery.
Now I am off to rack my brain about where these songs could work - it's gonna be a tough one, based on the props.
kudos for a great post, sir Nicholas!
-Astrid
i've been in love with joe purdy's "i love the rain the most" for years. excellent choice!
