someone's got a birthday going on!
hey ya'll! guess the heck what? it's Hilarie's birthday!!! won't you kindly join me in celebrating my most magical friend?
several years ago, i was living in nyc, writing a screenplay called Pedestrian. i didn't know what it was, or what it would be, and at the time of writing it, i don't remember caring. it was the first thing i ever wrote. a few months after its completion, i hightailed it to wilmington. Hilarie and i met at a dinner one night when we decided we liked each other better than our arguing company. i believe it was a mutual friend of ours who told Hil i had a script, and at some point she asked me for it, and finally one strange day, i left it on her doorstep. the next time i saw Hilarie she was dining at a restaurant i was working in at the time, and she came running up to me, and said, "hey! i want to make your movie!" and as far as i can recall, my response was like that of a dog tilting his head when someone says something he likes. i hope i'll always remember that the best i can because that was the moment that i became a writer. writing is now something so engrained in the fibers of what i've woven myself as, that i can't imagine not writing, but truly, truly, truly, i wouldn't be writing today if i hadn't met Hil. it is the rarest thing to receive such a unique gift as having your talent validated, it changes the course of your life. and when something like that happens to you, you celebrate that person, especially on their birthday, you celebrate that they are in your life. Hilarie was my first champion, and is still my greatest champion, and that is a gift that has brought so much to me. i am blessed to share my life with her, it's true. and when i'm winning all sorts of awards for how great i am, i expect Hilarie will always be the first person i thank.

You're writing is AMAZING and I can clearly see why she wanted to do the movie with you, without me even having seen it yet! It's a great thing to have someone like Hilarie in your life. A true friend is someone that you may or may not be lucky enough to find. I too have someone like Hilarie and if it wasn't for her,I wouldn't be inspired to do what I am going to do either.

After reading this I was just able to say "awww". It's the best example that best friends meet when they don't expect it, out of nowhere, and those people you met can really surprise you. Writing this story is also great way to say 'happy birthday' to Hilarie. I love how are you 'in love' with eachother.
